I honestly prefer being a photographer, but I model for myself since I know my imagination better than others.

And thank you. :D

The feathers are from an old Halloween prop -- one I disassembled for this picture. :horns:

Gracias!

I guess out of all your marvellous pictures I like this one best - it pure and appeals to the souls (or at least my souls ;)) underlying desire to be flying free and wild without constraints... just one question: is this a dead birds wing or is it artificial?

It's a uniwue enough deviation of mine, & fitting for my username, Philomel. :)

I thank you for your appreciation.

ah, now you shed light into my foggy darkness: you're username is related to this greek myth of the athenian princess and not primarily to the instrument, isn't it? or were both meanings intended (that would be ingenious ^^)?

You're impressively astute. :)

It's also, in the case of this deviation, related to the avian. If I could regress, insofar as that I could become any animal, I'd fancy having pinions, & liberation when aloft. :)

thank you very much ^^ - I can only give back the compliment. It stands out how all those little and big aspects of your works essentially stand for something ^^ that sets you apart from the crowd!
yes, the longing to fly... I fear I would probably share Ikarus' destiny because I wouldn't know when to stop going higher and higher ;)

My deviations are typically simplistic on the surface. My resources are limited, as is the case with most artists, so I try to hone what I am able to.

Like you, I might forget myself while on the wing, such as Icaros. I exercise restraint well enough in day-today scenarios. But if gifted with something so extraordinary as flying, I might end up overestimating my maneuverability. :)

I have rather ascetic tendencies myself but the euphoria of being airborn would probably make me forget everything and everyone ^^
that's one of the aspects I really like about your photos - the superficial simplicity. your works are wonderfully focused! (maybe I admire that so much because it's one of the things I usually lack x.x)

I love that wing. I want.

It brings back good memories of the times my cat has caught birds for me- wings splayed on the ground, disconnected form the body, feathers and bones everywhere, and me in the eye of the hurricane of gristle, pulling the skin from the bird skull so I can clean it and keep it. Such lovely memories. XD

All in all though, it's a wonderful picture, I found it while taking a second look through your gallery. The contrast between your skin and the background is just phenomenal, and your eyes are indescribable. Perfect shot.

The wing is actually from a broken Halloween prop -- a crow made to perch on a fence.

And I've had similar experiences with my cats leaving avian remains both inside & outside the house. Messy stuff. :D

Thank you for complimenting.

Ahhh, that's ingenious... I bet I could stock up on those this year and rip the wings off to use for various projects. Jewelry and clothes and whatnot. And you're very welcome.

I enjoy the darkness of this shot. Just enough shadows and shading for an air of mystery, but not so much that the meaning is lost. The feathers add a nice touch as well.
