The most intriguing part of this photograph for me is that blurred hook. I've come back to this photograph multiple times in the hopes that I would come up with something more valuable to say, but there's just something about that hook... It mocks me, plays with my sanity a bit, like the beat of the Tell-Tale Heart. Enthralling.
Hehe Die Antwoord are a band, probably the only form of rap I like. Yes they are dark and strange and fantastic so I can see why CBGINK said that. The blacked out eyes are used by the lead singer in one of their videos and if you care to know the name of the band translates to 'The answer' ^_^
I didn't like them at all at first but then my music tastes are more in the industrial/metal genre. After a few listens I was hooked...this is the video where she has the full black eyes in: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Uee_m… I also think this video is a great watch, perhaps especially since it takes the piss out of lady gaga then gets a thousand times horribly weirder LOL: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIXUgt… That track without the visuals has a great beat and is rather catchy. They speak 'afrikaans' which i like the sound of. It's all bizarre but i love it
Oh I'd agree - or I did agree. As i said I really didn't like them at all the first time I heard them. I didn't like the videos much either -then i sort of 'got it' and after a few more listens I was suddenly a fan?? I can totally understand why most don't like them. They are very tongue in cheek I think with the material they make. Also that second video I sent is pretty painful to watch even if you like the music. They have a bit of a niche backbite which works on several levels, they are imo, making fun of rap genre, afikaan and drinking/drug culture...also taking fun of those who are pseudo weird for the sake of it (like Gaga or Marilyn Manson) at the same time showing real people and also very openly not trying to be pretty, just being. That alone is a nice idea. I don't think the work you make falls into the Lady Gaga/Manson category - hence the other person citing this band. It's a compliment
